Adding photos to an album

Photos may be added to albums either individually or as a batch upload.

To add a single photo to an album:

  1. In the Albums tab of the module, click Edit next to a photo album.
  2. Click on the Add a New Photo button.
  3. In the Album field, select a photo album for the image. The photo album selected to above is the default setting.
  4. Enter the name of the new photo in the Title field.
  5. In the Caption field, enter a short caption that will appear with the photo.
  6. To link the photo, enter a URL in the Link field or select the Insert Link button.
  7. To choose the placement of the photo in the album, enter a number in the Order field. (Photo order can also be arranged in the album from the list by clicking the up and down arrow buttons.)
  8. In the Description field, enter any additional text that will appear with the photo. The description usually appears under the caption of the photo.
  9. Choose the photo by clicking File button in the Image field and selecting the file. (If the file should be featured as the album cover image, select the checkbox below.)
  10. In the Thumbnail field, select whether the system should automatically generate a new thumbnail file, or upload a separate file to use as the thumbnail. If the system generates a new thumbnail, the width and height may be entered manually. (The system cannot automatically generate thumbnails for GIF files because of legal limitations placed on the GIF file format. If you upload GIF files for photos, you will need to upload a separate thumbnail image for the photo.)
  11. To add the new photo, click Save.

To add multiple photos to an album:

  1. Create a .zip file that contains the pictures you want to add.
  2. In the Albums tab of the module, click Edit next to a photo album.
  3. Click on the Batch Uploads File button.
  4. Select the .zip file after clicking the Choose File button of the Upload Zip file field.
  5. In the Thumbnail Size field, enter the appropriate dimensions for the system to use when it automatically generates a thumbnail image for each photo in the .zip file. (The system cannot automatically generate thumbanisl for GIF files because of legal limitations placed on the GIF file format. If you upload GIF files for photos, you will need to upload a separate thumbnail for each photo.)
  6. To modify the files when uploading, select one of the options in the Resize image field.
  7. Click Upload. The pictures are uploaded to the photo album. Each picture just uploaded will appear in a list.
  8. Click on the Edit link next to any of the listed pictures to fill out the details of the image with the appropriate information.


Please note: When photos are uploaded, the image file is stored in the File Manager within the "_photos" directory. Directory names in the File Manager should not be altered, nor should users add, edit, or delete files in the "_photos" directory.
