Adding zone tables for shipping

Apr 19, 2014 2:37 pm

Zone tables are used for calculating shipping distances. Zones group geographic regions either by state, zip code, or country. Each shipping rate must have a corresponding zone table. Once you have finished entering zones, you can set up shipping rates.

To add zone tables based on UPS zip codes:

  • Select the Shipping Tab, and click on the Zones subtab.
  • Click the Import UPS Zip Code Zones.
  • Follow the link to the UPS Zone webpage.
  • Go to the "Download Zone Charts" section and enter your zip code and download.
  • The downloaded file will be an .xls file. Open the file and save as a "CSV" file.
  • Import the CSV file. The import will add zone tables for standard UPS shipping services such as UPS Ground and UPS Next Day Air.

To add a zone based on manually entered zip codes:

  • Click the Shipping Tab, and the Zones subtab.
  • Click on the Add Zones by Zip Code.
  • Enter a unique name for the zone table in the ZIP field and Click Save.
  • In the Start Zip and End Zip fields, enter the first zip code range and the last zip code range for the first zone.
  • In the Zone field, enter a zone number for the range of zip codes. This is the number you enter when setting up shipping rates.
  • Repeat the above steps for each zip code range.
  • Once you have finished adding zip codes, click Save.

To add a zone based on states:

  • Click the Shipping Tab, and the Zones subtab.
  • Click on the Add Zones by State button.
  • Enter a unique name for the zone table in the State field and Click Save.
  • In the Zone field, enter a zone number for States. Zone numbers may be unique for individual states, or may encompass a wide range of states grouped in the same selected zone. This is the number you enter when setting up shipping rates.
  • Once you have finished, click Save.

To add international zones:

  • Click the Shipping Tab, and the Zones subtab.
  • Click on the Add International Zones button.
  • Enter a unique name for the zone table in the International field and Click Save.
  • In the Zone field, enter a zone number for individual countries. Zone numbers may be unique for individual countries, or may encompass a wide range of countries grouped in the same selected zone. This is the number you enter when setting up shipping rates.
  • Once you have finished, click Save.
