Monitoring email statistics

Monitoring individual email statistics can help inform future mailings and help an organization know which subscribers are being reached through a campaign.

To view campaign statistics:

  • Click on the History subtab in the Campaigns tab of the Email Marketing module.
  • Click View beside a selected campaign mailing. The next screen will contain Statistics, Link Clickthru Statistics, and individual email messages statuses.

Please note: the total number of clickthrus includes recipients that click on links in an email multiple times. Total views displays the number of times someone viewed your email campaign. This is different from Views because it includes the same person viewing the email multiple times.

The History Detail view at the bottom displays each subscriber’s email address, whether the address received the email in HTML, the date the message was sent, the number of views, clicks, and clickthru dates, and whether the recipient responded to the campaign.

How exactly does the email stats know when someone opens the email? I used a specific email as a test in the group. I confirmed the email was opened. But yet in the stats it shows the recipient has yet to open the email. This seems to be the case for other emails that i have confirmed they did open the email but the stats does not show it. Any reason for this issue?

Email Marketing View Statistics are calculated when a user opens the email. Freedom embeds a "blank" image in the content of the email. This allows us to track when an Email has been opened.

We have not had any reported issues with Views not registering. Can you please provide the website you're having trouble with so we can help troubleshoot your issue?

i think i know what the issue is then.. if you are embedding a blank image which is at the bottom of the email... the email recipient actually has to accept and download the image for it to register.

For example.. the email i received from your reply... at the top of the email.. it says "click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy. Outlook prevented automatic download of some pictures in this message."

by not clicking to download the blank image.. it then does not register as an open email.

You are correct. The image must be opened in order for the view to be tracked.

that makes sense now! thanks

Another question... Is this the only way to track they opened the email? Is there any workaround for recipients of the email that doesn't link to download images in an email? Is this also the case for all email programs when it comes to tracking some opening the email ?

Yes, at this time the image must be downloaded in order for the statistics to track the view.

This would be the case for other email clients if they do not automatically download the images.
