Blog Series: Website Redesign Guide for Nonprofits

Published: Thursday, October 13, 2016 | Tags: nonprofit, web design

It is my strong belief that the Internet is the fastest moving industry humankind has ever experienced. I consider myself lucky to be alive in such an exciting time—advances in technology are made every minute, web design continues to evolve, and developers are constantly coming up with new solutions to help organizations succeed on the Web.

As you’ve probably come to realize by now, it’s far too easy to become outdated and irrelevant on the Web. If you’re not updating your nonprofit website every two years, you’re missing out on new functionality. Plus, your outdated design might make visitors wonder if it’s a signal that other areas of your organization are lacking in some way.

You understand why a website redesign is important. Now, let’s talk about how to make it happen.

Depending on your organizational policies and budget, the steps for your website redesign project will include all or some of the following:

  1. Gaining approval for the project from your board of directors or leadership team
  2. Determining a budget for the project
  3. Finding a grant to pay for the website
  4. Writing a grant proposal for your website
  5. Writing and issuing a Request For Proposal (RFP)
  6. Reviewing proposals and selecting a website development company

We know this can feel like a pretty overwhelming process, especially if you're the one leading the charge on this project. That’s why we’d like to offer you some guidance.
